Good morning, stranger! Or good afternoon, nearly. We've just finished up lunch here (turkey sandwiches), and the two younger kids are down for naps. For a moment I thought about putting myself to nap, too, but then I saw my laptop sitting here and decided to play around with fairy flight instead. After all, the armchair looked so inviting.
This is my favorite corner of our house. It's an unusual spot--a landing at the top of a very long set of stairs. We live in a townhouse, which is high and narrow. Looking over the rail of the landing makes my heart race, because it drops down two full floors and one little half-story by the front door. It must be a 25ft drop from here to the bottom! If you've ever read The Honeys by Ryan La Sala, it reminds me of the opening scene. But the landing is rather wide, and there are four sunny windows brightening the space. I set a comfy green armchair in the corner farthest from the stairs, and I hung a print from an artist I like beside it. Here, I can look out over the neighborhood from the top of the house. My favorite plant sits on a table beside me, its vines growing longer and longer as it bathes in all this sunlight. The cat often comes to look out the windows with me from his perch, too.
Of course, the cat also uses my favorite armchair as his scratching post. The poor thing is shredded all along the arms! But I'll forgive him since he makes good company otherwise.
Now I'll get back to work! This website is currently a disaster, but I think I can make it nice if I chip away at it bit-by-bit. Maybe I'll go exploring other Neocities sites for inspiration!
Goodbye for now!
